Sydney Kornegay

Co-Founder of RDJ Refugee Shelter

Originally from South Carolina, Sydney Kornegay has over seven years of experience in the non-profit sector. She's helped design and manage programs in Rwanda, Malawi, and New York City, with a particular interest in facilitating community-driven development. Most recently, she co-founded the RDJ Refugee Shelter- NYC's only shelter for asylum seekers and refugees. Sydney is passionate about building community across cultures and countries, empowering youth to take social action, and exploring the wilderness outside of NYC. Sydney has her B.A. in Political Science from Davidson and is pursuing her M.A. in International Political Economy and Development at Fordham University.
