Our Team

Rebecca Schumer Chief Innovation Officer, The Greenhouse I am a big dreamer and a passionate do-er who (almost) never takes no for an answer, and (almost) always believes that meaningful experience is better had outside the classroom and in the close company of old and new friends. "The Greenhouse was designed with great intentionality to support Jewish teens in their journeys to understand who and what they want to be in the world. This means understanding how their identity and community are important assets to be leveraged as they craft their own stories and prepare to enter a world that is in increasing need of critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and social innovators. We have a big, bold vision and cannot wait to see what the community creates!" Contact: rebecca@greenhouseimpact.org

Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch Spiritual Advisor, The Greenhouse Senior Rabbi, Stephen Wise Free Synagogue Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch is the senior rabbi of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in New York City, where he has led a dramatic revival in Jewish life. He is recognized internationally for his leadership in Jewish affairs and is frequently cited in the media. Prior to his arrival at Stephen Wise, he served for twelve years as executive director of the Association of Reform Zionists of America. “What are we working for? What is it all about? There comes a point in time when the common truth - we must raise a committed generation - must become a personal urgency: I must cultivate, teach and train a committed generation. For what is Judaism in the end? It is an act of trust from one generation to the next and from one living Jew to the next – that we assume our responsibilities, willingly and joyously.”

Allie Mahler Lead Community Designer, The Greenhouse Founder, Community by Design I believe in the in the power of communities as a force for good in the world. You can find me biking around NYC, eating grilled cheese & tomato sandwiches, and pretending I'm a tourist in New York City even as a native Manhattanite. "The Greenhouse is something I wish that I had access to when I was growing up. To me the most exciting thing about it is the element of authentic community - we're building a community of teens and a network for inspirational and driven professionals. The potential of these two communities coming together is endless and so very exciting."
